5 Tips for Staying Young
What a world! We are living longer today and even though a lot of us are entering the autumn of our life; we feel and act younger than previous generations. I remember looking at my grandparents and thinking that they were ancient when they were my present age but they were not as active and it seemed that they did not have as much fun as we do. It makes one wonder what made their generation different than ours. I am sure there are many factors that enter into the equation, however, I do know we need to enjoy every moment we have. I would like to offer some tips for staying young.
1. Have a happy mindset.
Even with all our present economic issues; we have a better standard of living that our parents and grandparents did. The things that we take for granted would have been a godsend to them. We should take more time to compare what our folks did without and the things that are readily available to us.
2. Be thankful for your memories.
We need to be thankful for the things that we have done throughout our lives. Good or bad memories; they are the things that have made up our life and they are the things that have made us what we are.
If you have memories of a lost love and you find this painful; remember it is better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all! When all is said and done; our memories are our most valuable assets.
3. Laugh a lot.
Nobody wants to be referenced as being grumpy. So have fun and laugh. Life is made up of ridiculous events. Be willing to laugh at funny things especially if the event is something that involves you. There is nothing more funny that the person that takes themselves too serious.
The funny events are the ones that are most memorable!
4. Exercise and stay in shape.
Our bodies were made to move so accept the blessings that you have and be the best you can be. It does not take a lot to keep your body fit and most of the things you can do are fun.
Watch what you eat and remember that moderation is the key to a long and happy life.
5. Stay stylish.
Being stylish covers a large number of areas. Do not allow yourself to think that you need to act your age. I remember when I was a kid that all the older women wore dresses with colors and patterns that made them look old. Today, we see all kinds of clothes that make women look good no matter what their age.
Hair style is another area where people used to settle into one style that everybody accepted as being what people of a certain age should wear. We are not tied to any particular style today. We can have any kind of hair style that we want and it is perfectly acceptable.
The main difference that I see in the world today is that we are not expected to act like old people. We can really act as young as we want and the world will accept us as we are.
The thing that we need to keep in mind is that we only go around once so do it in style and have fun.
